Decomposed Granite material from the gravel pit stockpiles has been analysed in a laboratory and the test results (Xray Diffraction and Particle Size Distribution (AS1289.3.6.1/3.6.3)) indicate that it contains crystalline silica (approx 18% SiO2 as Quartz) and contains 2.1% with particle size passing 5 micron. Crystalline Silica exposure from inhalation from is associated with Silicosis disease. DG does not contain significant amounts of fine crystalline silica particles (ie. 1% <5um), however it can generate fine dust in some situations such as cutting, drilling or grinding when used as a concrete, grout or mortar aggreate, therefore health risks from exposure to dust inhalation cannot be excluded and must be prevented through suitable use and handling, correct PPE and limiting exposure to dust.
The terms and conditions of the sale of DG includes acceptance of a waiver and release from all liability.
